MEDIA ADVISORY
What: Maryland Higher Education Commission Meeting
Items to be discussed include:
Pursuant to the Code of Maryland Regulations (COMAR) 13B.02.03.25D, the
Commission will hear the appeal of Secretary of Higher Education James E. Lyons,
Sr.'s denial of approval of the University of Maryland University College
program proposal to offer an area of concentration, in Community College Policy
and Administration, within its Doctor of Management program in Maryland. The
hearing will be conducted in accordance with the provisions of COMAR
13B.02.03.25D(2) – (5).
After the hearing, the Commission will adjourn to a closed session.

The Commission will issue its decision within 5 working days of the hearing.

The Maryland Higher Education Commission is a 12-member coordinating board
responsible for establishing statewide policies for Maryland public and
independent colleges and universities and private career schools. It serves as
an advocate for more than 337,000 college students in Maryland, for the State
and its needs, and for business and industry in Maryland.
