Information Regarding the Application for Approval to Open a New Real Estate Private Career School

Approval by the Maryland Higher Education Commission (MHEC) is required before an in-state training entity may offer to the general public the 60 clock hour Principles and Practices of Real Estate for Salespersons pre-licensing program. This is a regulatory requirement of the Maryland Real Estate Commission (MREC).

Also, a business must first be approved by MHEC to offer the pre-licensing program as a private career school program before it may apply to MREC to offer real estate continuing education courses.

The following application and materials are to be used by a business applying to MHEC to operate in Maryland as a private real estate career school, offering the 60 clock hour Principles and Practices of Real Estate for Salespersons pre-licensing course.

Note that the program curriculum must first be submitted to MREC for review and approval before submitting the complete application to MHEC.

These materials are for residential and distance education (online) delivery formats.
