Applied Health Physiology Program Description
The intent of the proposed M.S. in Applied Health Physiology is to provide graduates with a wide scope of entry points into the applied exercise physiology community. Students may choose from a credentialing focus within Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehabilitation, Fitness/Wellness, and/or Strength and Conditioning. The M.S. program to be offered at the Universities at Shady Grove (USG) will also prepare students to pursue terminal degrees such as a doctoral degree in physiology/kinesiology (Ph.D.) or Doctor of Physical Therapy degree (DPT). The Applied Health Physiology program at USG will be equivalent to the program at Salisbury University’s main campus. <br>The program requires two internships:&nbsp; A practical experience that requires the student to synthesize relevant professional knowledge and skills within a client care delivery environment, and an internship of additional practical/observational experience with an approved health care/enhancement program. The curriculum includes coursework in research, theory and practice, strength and conditioning, exercise metabolism, human psychophysiology, pharmacology, weight management, population interventions, and a host of physiology-based courses.
