General Studies w/ Area of Concentration (A.o.C.) in Health Science Program Description
The General Studies Area of Concentration in Health Sciences program is designed to prepare graduates to transfer to health sciences and related programs at the bachelor’s degree level. The program is built on and reinforces fundamental skills, including writing, oral communications, and quantitative skills obtained through general education coursework. Students will be exposed to concepts and experiences necessary for success in the workplace, further education, and life- long learning. Throughout the curriculum, students will be presented with a wide range of instructional methods and experiences that provide exposure to a solid foundation of the diverse nature of health sciences careers.  The Health Science program is comprised of the general education courses required for completion of the A.A. degree. The Health Science specific curriculum includes coursework in personal and community health, nutrition, microbiology, medical terminology, human growth and development,  fitness and leisure, issues in cultural diversity, and a second-level course in human anatomy and physiology.
