Integrated Technology in Education Program Description
The University of Maryland (UMD) proposes a 12-credit Post-Baccalaureate Certificate in Integrated Technology in Education. The purpose of this certificate program is to offer professional development to K-12 educators who are currently certified in other content areas and have an interest in developing the pedagogical and theoretical knowledge needed to effectively integrate technology into their professional lives.  While UMD is seeking approval for as a new, stand-alone P.B.C., they plan to expand the program to a closed-site format. <br> <br>This new certificate program will be administered by UMD’s Department of Teaching and Learning, Policy and Leadership. With more than 50% of the courses offered face-to-face, some of the coursework will be offered online.  The curricular design was the result of input from school district stakeholders to be sure that the proposed curriculum would meet various educational district needs.  Expected learning outcomes include: How to use technology to support teaching and learning across K-12 contexts; Collect, analyze, and make decisions based on the data generated by students and peers; Utilizing technology in classrooms both safely and responsibly; and Learning to use technology in equitable and inclusive ways. <br>
