Additive Manufacturing Technology Program Description |
The purpose of the additive manufacturing technology certificate is to prepare students for career entry or career advancement in additive manufacturing technology. Additive manufacturing (AM) is the process of joining materials to make objects from 3D model
data, usually layer upon layer. The process may be completed via fusion, inkjet printing technology, or lamination. As additive manufacturing becomes more mainstream, this process of adding materials as opposed to removing optimizes production and eliminates excessive time and waste.

The curriculum emphasizes foundational skills in additive manufacturing technology,
computer-aided design, technical physical science, and entrepreneurship, and incorporates practical, collaborative learning experiences. Students will develop analytical skills and communication skills, while applying creativity to the use of additive
manufacturing and design tools. Students who complete the certificate will have access to employment in a variety of technology sectors including engineering, manufacturing,
design, marketing, and sales. |
