Substantial Mod: Pre-Engineering Program Description
The Associate of Science in Engineering Science improves the current engineering program at HCC by further enhancing the student’s transferability to four-year, Maryland institution’s engineering programs. The Program offers engineering pathways and focuses on technical curricula similar to first and second year engineering programs at four-year institutions. The changes to the Engineering degree feature three pathways: Electrical, Mechanical, and Chemical that support transfer into a variety of engineering degrees by increasing student’s engagement in their selected engineering field. With second-year courses specifically positioned towards each area of focus, the Electrical Pathway is specifically situated towards Electrical, Electronic, and Computer Engineering programs; the Mechanical Pathway will prepare students in the areas of Mechanical, Aerospace, Materials Science, and Civil Engineering; and the Chemical Pathway will focus on Chemical, Biological, and Environmental degree  programs.
