Social Work with Statewide Designation Program Description |
The Associate of Arts (A.A.) in Social Work is designed for the working adult seeking to earn an undergraduate degree in an accelerated format while continuing to work full- or part-time. The degree provides skills required for an entry-level position as a social and human services assistant. The accelerated program combines theory and practice through classroom, online, and guided experiential experiences. The program has been developed to articulate into the baccalaureate degree at Salisbury University. Graduates of the program will be able to express an understanding of their ethical responsibility and role under the supervision of social work professionals; demonstrate a professional attitude toward their work; apply critical thinking skills within the context of professional social work practice; understand the value base of the profession; understand and interpret the history of the social work profession and its contemporary structures and issues; understand the importance of respect for various abilities, cultures, races, ages, and religious affiliations; and communicate differentially across client populations, communities and colleagues. |
