Food System, Environment & Public Health Program Description
The Post-Baccalaureate Certificate (P.B.C.) in Food System, Environment and Public Health focuses on the U.S. food system as it relates to our public health profile and challenges. The program will explore the public health and environmental problems that are encountered in food production, including obesity and other diet-related diseases, food insecurity, antibiotic-resistant infections, community and occupational exposures to contaminated air, water and soil, and long-term threats to the food supply through resource depletion and ecological degradation. Students will gain an understanding of food systems and the relationships among diet, food production practices, the environment, and human health.
