Epidemiology for Public Health Professionals Program Description
The Post-Baccalaureate Certificate (P.B.C.) in Epidemiology for Public Health Professionals is designed to expand the knowledge of professionals in epidemiologic concepts and measures to develop practical and appropriate public health action. Graduates of the program will understand how epidemiology is used to identify causes of disease, identify high risk populations, develop preventive methods and evaluate public health strategies. They will also be able to identify the features of health study design, including randomized trials, cohort and case-control studies, birth cohort and ecologic studies and pre-post and quasi experimental studies. Students will be able to design, implement and evaluate disease surveillance systems and communicate epidemiological information to relevant audiences.
