Commissioner Siddiqi was appointed to serve on the Commission by
Governor Martin O’Malley in June 2011 to fill an unexpired term
from 2011. He joins the Commission with over 30 years of
distinguished professional career and experience in engineering
and educational industry. Mr. Siddiqi comes to the Commission
with the distinction of having been previously appointed by
Governor O’Malley in September 2008 to serve on the Maryland
P-20 Science Technology Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) Task
Force, charged to create a statewide STEM action plan aimed at
insuring Maryland’s workforce of the future committing to a
globally competitive research and development infrastructure to
maintain Maryland’s competitive knowledge-based economy. Task
Force was asked to develop an action plan and Commissioner
Siddiqi served as a co-chair for the Workforce Work Group of the
Task Force.
In his professional career, Commissioner Siddiqi is a Partner
and Executive Vice President at EBA Engineering, Inc. (EBA), a
reputed civil and environmental engineering firm in Maryland and
is a registered Professional Engineer (PE) in the State of
Maryland. As a head of Water Systems Engineering Department at
EBA, Commissioner Siddiqi is responsible for all operations of
the department from marketing to design and production and
client relations. Additionally he has been actively involved in
academic activities including teaching engineering courses and
workforce development in Maryland and was adjunct instructor at
Anne Arundel and Baltimore County Community Colleges. He has
been involved in teaching and training activities since last 20
years and is well respected by his colleagues and students. In
the past he has developed and taught customized engineering
courses to train engineers at NASA, Northrop Grumman and various
educational institutions.
Commissioner Siddiqi is actively involved in several
professional societies including the American Society of Civil
Engineers (ASCE), American Council of Engineering Companies
(ACEC), American Water Works Association (AWWA), Water
Environmental Foundation (WEF), National Association of Sewer
Service Companies (NASSCO) and National Society of Professional
Engineers (NSPE). He is a member of ASCE since 1985 and has
served as ASCE-MD newsletter editor for 3 years (2002-2004) and
earned “Outstanding Newsletter Award” from ASCE National in
September 2005, for his newsletters quality based on a
nationwide competition. He is also a recipient of “Outstanding
Project Award 2003” from Maryland Society of Professional
Engineers for one of his projects and “Impact Award 2011” from
American Council of Engineering Companies/Metro Washington
(ACEC/MW) for his outstanding leadership. He served as Chair,
Programs Committee for American Society of Civil Engineers
(ASCE/MD), Chair, Baltimore City Liaison Committee for American
Council of Engineering Companies/Maryland (ACEC/MD) and is
currently Chair, Water Infrastructure Committee of the American
Council of Engineering Companies/Metro Washington (ACEC/MW).
Commissioner Siddiqi is actively involved in community service
and is currently serving as President of the Howard County
Muslim Council and Vice President of the United Maryland Muslim
Council and Board member for Middle Eastern American Chamber of
Commerce. He is a graduate of Virginia Tech and earned his
Master’s in Civil/Environmental Engineering. He lives in
Ellicott City with his wife and three children.
