Sojourner-Douglass College

Sojourner-Douglass College was born amidst the rich energy of the early 1970's. The College was formerly the Homestead-Montebello Center of Antioch College, which was established in 1972. Sojourner-Douglass College began operating as an independent four-year institution on July 1, 1980. The driving forces have remained the same: educating adults and empowering members of the community. In addition to the main campus in Baltimore City, Sojourner-Douglass College has six off-site locations in Nassau, Bahamas, Annapolis, Cambridge, Salisbury, Prince George's and Owings Mills, Maryland. Fully accredited by the Middle States Association/Commission on Higher Education, Sojourner-Douglass College is a full-time adult evening and weekend college offering bachelor and master's of arts degrees in the applied arts and sciences. This community-controlled institution's academic programs are designed to aid students in increasing their capacity for self-development and self-expression. Sojourner-Douglass College is successful at blending students from different backgrounds and experiences into a student community dedicated to educational advancement. The instructional modes place emphasis on the practical application of theoretical principles, assessments of learning through life experiences, problem-posing dialogical method of instruction and extensive peer interaction.
