Mr. Anwer Hasan has more than 30 years of comprehensive
experience in the areas of Regional Operation, Business Unit
Management, Program and Project Management, Project Controls and
Engineering, and Contract Administration for large
transportation, water/wastewater, stormwater, school, solid
waste, remediation and water quality projects.
He has been in Washington Metropolitan Area for over 25
years and has assisted the City of Baltimore’s Departments of
Public Works and Transportation, Baltimore County Department of
Public Works and the Baltimore City Public School System in the
organization and management of the Capital Improvement Program,
which has brought greater predictability, accountability and
identification of deficiencies. As a Regional Manager and
Business Unit Director, he has developed operation budgets,
managed profit and loss for the region and business unit. As a
regional director for sales and marketing, he developed and
implemented a four year plan, which promoted the growth of
regional sales from $14 million to $38 million in less than two
years. For the City of
Baltimore
and the District of Columbia Water and Sewer Authority (DCWASA),
he increased the backlog from nothing to $15 million. Currently,
Mr. Hasan is managing a business unit of 86 full-time staff with
annual revenue of $20 million.
Mr. Hasan has managed several large water/wastewater and
stormwater programs in the Washington Metropolitan Area. Most
notable are the $500 Million, MS4 program and $300M construction
program for DC Water, $1.0B Consent Decree Program and various
water/sewer and stormwater construction management projects for
the City of Baltimore.
Mr. Hasan is the Chairman of the Maryland Higher Education
Commission and the Chairman of the Governor’s Commission on
Middle Eastern American Affairs and a member of the Governor
P-20 Council. Previously he has served as a Chairman of
Requirement Committee for Base Realignment Closure (BRAC) Task
Forces for Howard County and has served for two consecutive
years in the Spending and Affordability Committee in Howard
County. He has also actively participated in Governor Martin
O’Malley’s Transition Team in 2007 and co-chaired the
transportation transition team and participated in Baltimore
City Mayor Martin O’Malley’s and Stephanie Rawlings Transition
Team for the Department of Public Works. Recently he was
elected a delegate for Obama 2012 and serving on Mayor Stephanie
Rawlings Advisory Council on Minority and Women Owned Business
Enterprises.
Mr. Hasan is a community leader; he started
the Howard County Muslim Council 10 years ago and increased the
number of councils to eight councils including Howard,
Baltimore, Montgomery, Anne Arundel, Prince George’s, Harford
and Frederick Counties and Baltimore City. He served as a
President of Howard County Muslim Council for four years and the
President of Maryland Muslim Council for four years.
Currently he is the chairman of United Maryland Muslim Council and Board
member for Middle Eastern American Chamber of Commerce.
He has received several awards from various
organizations including Martin Luther King Howard County
Commission and Maryland State Department of Education Award for
community service and minority achievement award respectively.
