Anwer Hasan
Mr. Anwer Hasan has more
than 25 years of comprehensive experience in the areas of
Regional Operation, Business Unit Management, Program and
Project Management, Project Controls and Engineering, and
Contract Administration for large transportation,
water/wastewater, schools, higher education, solid waste,
remediation and water quality projects. He has been with EA
Engineering, Science, and Technology, Inc. (EA) for ten
years and has assisted the City of Baltimore’s Departments
of Public Works and Transportation and the Baltimore City
Public School System in the organization and management of
the Capital Improvement Program, which has brought greater
predictability, accountability and identification of
deficiencies using a CitiStat process. As a Regional Manager
and Business Unit Director, he has developed operation
budgets, managed profit and loss for the region and business
unit. Mr. Hasan spearheaded the re-engineering process in
the region. As a regional director for sales and marketing,
he developed a plan for the past four years, which promoted
the growth of regional sales from $14 million to $28 million
in the past two years. For the City of Baltimore and the
District of Columbia Water and Sewer Authority (DCWASA), he
increased the backlog from nothing to $15 million.
Currently, Mr. Hasan is managing a business unit of 50
full-time staff and annual revenue of $7 million.
Additionally, Mr. Hasan
actively participated in Baltimore City Mayor Martin
O’Malley’s Transition Team and has served as the Chair of
the transportation committee on his Gubernatorial Transition
Team. He is also serving as a Chairman of Requirement
Committee for Base Realignment Closure (BRAC) Task Force
formed by the Howard County Executive. Moreover, he has
served in a Spending and Affordability Committee in Howard
County for last two years and various school committees for
promoting diversity in the Howard County Public School
System. For the City of Baltimore Public Schools he served
on the CEO search committee and for District of Columbia
Public Schools, he is on their Executive Advisory board for
Capital Construction Program.
Mr. Hasan is a community
leader; he started the Howard County Muslim Council five
years ago and now there are five councils functioning in
Howard, Baltimore, Montgomery, Anne Arundel and Frederick
Counties. He served as a President of Howard County Muslim
Council for four years and now is the President of Maryland
Muslim Council, which is an umbrella organization for these
five councils. He has received several awards from various
organizations including Martin Luther King Howard County
Commission and Maryland State Department of Education Award
for community service and minority achievement award
respectively.

by Governor Martin O’Malley to the Commission in July 2007
to fill an unexpired term from 2005. His term expires in
July 2010.
