Initiatives
Current Green Initiatives Include:
- Control of all HVAC systems through a central Energy
Management System for uniform indoor climate control
- Jordan Center utilizes energy recovery ventilators to
capture energy from building exhaust;
- Guerrieri Hall utilizes CO2 monitors to match outdoor
air intake to occupant requirements;
- Converting restroom fixtures to sensor activated to
reduce water consumption;
- Use of low-flow restroom fixtures throughout the campus;
- Use of green cleaning products wherever possible;
- Campus-wide recycling program for plastic bottles,
aluminum cans, office paper and corrugated cardboard;
- Recycling of copier toner cartridges to manufacturer;
- Replacement carpets contain a minimum of 50% recycled
fiber and are 100% recyclable;
- Use of an Integrated Pest Management program throughout
campus landscaping;
- Use of organic fertilizers and compost in all turf
areas.
Planned Green Initiatives Include:
- Installation of motion sensors for lighting control in
offices, classrooms, restrooms and public areas
- Replacement of T-8 fixtures with T-5 fixtures during
renovations;
- Increased use of organic fertilizers;
- Conducting energy audit in Academic and Administrative
Building to reduce electric consumption;
- New Allied Health Building under design will incorporate
motion sensors, condensing boilers, energy recovery
ventilators and high-efficiency lighting.
