The Distinguished Scholar Teacher
Education Award Program has been consolidated into the
Workforce Shortage Student Assistance Grant Program.
There are no more awards being made/renewed under the DSTE
program.
If you received an award under the
DSTE program name, you have agreed to work as a full-time classroom teacher
in a Maryland public school, one year for each year of the award, or repay
the scholarship with interest. If you failed to remain eligible for a
Distinguished Scholar award, you must still fulfill the obligations of the
Distinguished Scholar Teacher Education promissory note. You must begin the
service obligation within nine (9) months of graduation. If you held this
scholarship with any other award requiring a service obligation, you must
perform your service in consecutive years.
All
new awards made in this major
or occupational fields will now be made under the Workforce Shortage Student
Assistance Grant Program. Please visit our website for
information on the WSSAG program and for program application information.
