APPLICATION PROCESS FOR NOMINATING PROGRAMS TO BE ON THE MARYLAND STATE LIST OF
OCCUPATIONAL TRAINING PROVIDERS FOR THE WORKFORCE INVESTMENT ACT (WIA)
Other Maryland Training Providers
If a training provider is
making initial application to be added to the Maryland State List of Occupational Training Providers to be
eligible for WIA funding, follow Step 1, 2 and 3. If a training provider is already on the
Maryland State List of Occupational Training Providers, follow Step 3.
Step 1:
To nominate a training provider to be added to the Maryland State List of Occupational Training Providers, it
first must be established that the training provider is legally authorized to offer training. All
WIA training providers must be legally operating in Maryland.
If the training
provider does not have a letter from the Maryland Higher Education Commission (MHEC) granting
exempt status, then a Training Provider
Questionnaire (Word Document) must be completed by the training provider and submitted to MHEC for
review and status determination prior to continuing to Step 2.
If the training
provider has a letter from the Maryland Higher Education Commission (MHEC) granting exempt status,
continue to Step 2.
Step 2:
To nominate an exempt training provider to be added to the Maryland State List of Occupational Training
Providers, the training provider must submit the following document:
Step 3:
To nominate program(s) to be added to the Maryland State List of Occupational Training
Providers, the exempt training provider must submit the following documents for each
occupational training program:
LWIB Nomination Form (Word Document):
-- to be completed by the training provider and signed by authorized staff
of a Maryland Local Workforce Investment Board (LWIB) indicating the LWIB's approval to add the program to
the WIA State List.
Nomination Form (Word Document):
Program to be on Maryland State List of Occupational Training Providers -- to be completed by the training
provider.
Verification of Minimum Program Performance
(Word Document): -- to be completed by the training provider documenting that an existing
program has at least a 61% employment rate for program graduates. A new program is exempt from this
requirement. The data MUST be sent in electronic format, either on a CD, DVD, or via
e-mail in MS-Word or Excel file format. If sent via e-mail, the MS-Word or Excel files
MUST be password-protected with the password sent in a separate follow-up
e-mail.
Note: Before
a program is eligible to be added to the Maryland State List of Occupational Training Providers, a training
provider must submit a complete application (with all the above forms completed and
signed) to:
